Perhaps one of the biggest concerns that people have when changing their diet is how are they going to cope socially? Eating out is a big part of the Australian culture; nearly every major celebration revolves around food and drink. Never fear, you should be able to successfully navigate any menu and make keto-friendly choices with practice (and a bit of help from your waiter).
The first rule of eating out is learning how to order off the menu. Some people are too embarrassed to ‘make a fuss’ and end up with a meal that contains lots of carbohydrates in one form or another and end up not eating half their dish.
Unfortunately allergies and intolerances are very common, so most venues (from the finest restaurant to the corner café or the fish and chip shop on the beach front) will have an option for you and if not most will make you one if you ask nicely. Don’t forget that special meals may take a little longer for the kitchen to prepare, so be patient.
