Home / Weight Loss Programs / Welcome / Weight Loss Preparation
We do everything we can to ensure your success during the program which is why there are a series of tests we undertake as part of your initial assessment before starting the weight loss program. These help to identify any blocks to weight loss you may have. At your first appointment we will perform a simple urine test, a bioimpedance analysis scan, random glucose test and a live blood analysis to help us screen you for common health conditions that may impede weight loss. You will also be given a Basal Metabolic Temperature chart to complete and we will review any recent pathology results you may have had done.
We will provide you with treatment for any problems which may slow your weight loss progress.
This simple urine test helps us to identify the presence of an overgrowth of bad bacteria (dysbiosis) in the digestive tract which is associated with and increased permeability of the mucous membranes (leaky gut). Research indicates that dysbiosis is associated with low-grade inflammation, disrupted insulin signaling and poor weight control. Addressing dysbiosis and leaky gut prior to starting any weight loss program can make a big difference to the outcome.
Low-grade inflammation is associated with excess extracellular fluid and fluid retention. This can skew your results during the weight loss program if left untreated as retaining excess fluid can alter your results on the scales.
We screen for this at your initial appointment using bioimpedance analysis and assess your progress throughout the program. If you are shown to have excess extracellular fluid we will work to identify the cause and address the issue prior to you starting the program. Often leaky gut or food intolerance is the cause of this, addressing these issues at the start of your program makes a big difference in the final outcome (and to your health overall).
We do a general Live blood screening prior to you starting the program. This will help us identify several health markers, including suboptimal liver function. If liver support is indicated we address this or refer you for further tests. The liver is an important organ and healthy liver function is vital for a healthy metabolism.
We will also do a random blood glucose prior to you starting the program. I you are shown to have problems with this we will refer you for further testing. This program is ideal for people with insulin resistance and can be modified for people with type II diabetes. If you have a pre-exisiting condition please discuss it with your practitioner, so we can tailor the program to suit your needs.
You will be given a Basal Metabolic Temperature chart to complete at your initial appointment. This helps us screen metabolic function and thyroid health. If you have an existing thyroid condition or have a history of unstable thyroid we can support you. If resting temperatures are low but your thyroid function has been shown to be within normal ranges we can refer you for further testing and specialist medical support if needed.
